COMPOSITION:
Entomopathogenic nematodes – Steinernema feltiae

PACKAGING:
Bags containing 250 millions of nematodes – Boxes of 6 bags

CHARACTERISTICS:
NEMAX F is a product based on entomopathogenic nematodes (species: Steinernema feltiae), which are parasites of wintering larvae of Cydia pomonella, Synanthedon Spuleri and other lepidoptera such as Cydia molesta, Euzophera bigella, Cydia funebrana, Anarsia lineatella, Cydia splendana, Cydia fagiglandana.
With right temperature and humidity conditions, nematodes can move very easily and are able to trace the overwintering larvae and enter through natural openings of the insects. Once inside, nematodes release symbiotic bacteria (genus: Xenorhabdus), which lead to the death of the insect within 48 hours. Nematodes increase in number inside the larva and can infect other host insects, if appropriate weather conditions occur. The lack of host insects brings to a drastic reduction of nematodes population.
NEMAX F is extremely effective, it leaves no residues and it is not dangerous for humans, warm-blooded animals, other non-target insects and environment.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION:
Codling moth wintering larvae and other lepidoptera
NEMAX F should be applied in Autumn (September-October). Essential conditions for the effectiveness of the product are the humidity level and an appropriate temperature. Nematodes require high levels of humidity to live and move: for this reason, it is recommended to carry out the treatment just before/during/just after a 3-5 mm rainfall. If humidity values are not enough, use spray irrigation above the canopy, before and immediately after the treatment (2,5 mm at least) or, as an alternative, wet before and after the treatment using an atomizer, distributing at least 3000-4000 lt of water/ha. Carry out the treatment during late afternoon or in the evening, in order to guarantee the best conditions; during the application of the product, the temperature must be over 10-12°C, keeping these values for at least 3-4 hours after the treatment.
Red palm weevil
Spray NEMAX F slowly, under the foliage canopy. Use appropriate volumes of water (from 5 to 20 lt/palm, in relation to the size of the plant; the minimum concentration must be 2,5 million/lt); repeat the treatment every 3-4 weeks, from April to November.

APPLICATION RATES:
Against Lepidoptera larvae on fruit trees:
– 1-1,5 billion of nematodes/ha (every packaging of NEMAX F contains 250 millions of nematodes);
– Volume of water: at least 2000 lt/ha, if combined with rainfall or irrigation; otherwise, apply at least 3000-4000 lt/ha.
It is recommended to treat the whole plant, including the base of the trunk and the underlying area.
Against the red palm weevil:
15-50 millions of nematodes for each palm, in relation to its size.

CONDITIONS OF USE:
1) Clean sprayers properly, especially after a pesticide treatment.
2) Dilute nematodes in a bucket with water, mixing well.
3) Fill partially the barrel with clean water.
4) Turn the mixer on and add the contents of the bucket into the barrel.
5) Dilute the compound until you reach the right quantity of water.
6) Keep the mixer on during the applications, to avoid that nematodes settle on the bottom.
7) Apply within 7-10 hours from preparation.

STORAGE:
1) Verify the expiring date on the package.
2) Store in the dark at 2-6°C.
3) Do not freeze the product.

WARNINGS:
It is recommended to use traditional sprayers with a maximum pressure of 5/8 atm; remove small-mesh filters (>50 mesh) and use nozzles with at least 0,5 mm openings.

NEMAX H is also available
Based on entomopathogenic nematodes (genus: Heterorhabditis bacteriophora), which are parasites of larvae of Otiorhynchus and Diabrotica virgifera.
